Is It Too Hard to be (a) Human?
Lucy Suggate, one of the UK’s leading dance artists and choreographers, will lead a 3hr masterclass for professional dance artists and experienced performers at Dance Limerick.
The workshop will focus on ideas, strategies and questions that encourage you to become your most articulate, flamboyant, available, moving and thinking self.
Lucy says about her motivation behind the workshop:
In the 80’s Donna Harraway wrote she would rather be a Cyborg than a Goddess and I wonder if I could be both?
When in the middle of doing it (dancing) I feel like I’m oscillating between advancement and disaster, I believe if I propel myself towards the sky, I will reach it. I will find the capacity within myself to overcome my physical, my human limitations, of course I don’t, I collapse in a pile on the floor. I realised during these deep states of dancing I can explore the boundaries of my own being and access a wild spirit that is capable of extraordinary things - This leads me to consider that moving, dancing and thinking can give us all the ability to deal with the increasing complexity of the world around us.
