An improvised movie about improvisation, Gingerella (Rockafela) explores synchronisation and the body politic in a narrative that weaves together 13 universal Cinderella tales with the contemporary story of a dancer’s search to rediscover her will to dance. In an age of proximity to machines, neuroscientists are Gingerella’s guide as we journey through the urban Amazon, Brazil, Iceland and the UK, exploring how we move and what it is to be close to each other. Today, with arduous migrations, Brexit and communities struggling to cooperate, her journey reveals some startling, cognitive truths about why we dance together.
